Addison
Behavioral Care, Inc. developed the "Youth on the Road to Success"
which is a work preparedness program for adolescents. This program will enable
youth to develop those attitudes and behaviors that will enable their procurement,
retention, and satisfaction in employment. It has three unique aspects which
address youth and they are:
- Introspective Intervention: This is a process evolved from value
clarification models which was adopted and utilized by Addison Behavioral Care,
Inc., in most of its personal growth and intervention activities. The process
provides not only information on certain subjects or issues, but also provides
information through a process which enables the participants to identify where
they fit personally or where they would like to fit within any given subject.
Once it is identified and acknowledged, the participant will then develop steps
to grow toward an attitude or behavioral goal which he/she has selected as
appropriate and functional.
- The program
does not assume the existence of any particular attitude, behavior or skills
among the participants, and therefore works with whatever evolves from the
Introspective Intervention Process.
- The Program recognizes respects and utilizes the influence
of cultures, lifestyles, and family/community traditions as important vehicles
for growth among the youth participants.

The program is structured in five
introspective Intervention Modules as follows:
- Positive
attitude development.
- Communication
- Leadership & Decision Making
- Chemical Abuse and its impact on the job market
- Marketing yourself/Professional Development
There will be a maximum of fifteen
persons per group. An attempt should be made to balance age and sex within the
groups. There are two co-facilitators (one male and one female) for each group
who will work with the participants throughout the duration of the program. The
facilitators will be responsible for all workshop exercises, survey
administration, assessments and reports on the progress of the participants.
The program operates through workshop exercises which are experiential and are
designed for maximum participation of the audience. These exercises comprise
the majority of the sessions within the week and include the individual, duet
and triad small group participation. The task will also take the participants
into the living community and various work environments. Field trips are
designed to expose participants to on-site experience in job acquisition. The
experiential workshop will prepare them for the trip.
